HK 27.. It's Been A Hard Day's Night

Hello! Its been another great week! I definitely learned something this week. It was a really tough week for me. This week I was really disappointed because I thought we were set to have a really great week. Since everyone was really busy, we scheduled all our investigators on friday and saturday. When Friday and Saturday came, almost everyone on them canceled. Finding this week was really tough as well, we did all we could to stop someone but no one seems to care.

I was reflecting and pondering on why we had that kind of a week. I guess God just wants to test my faith as a missionary. It was probably the hardest week I had on my mission so far. I was once again humbled down. I am so grateful for the many experience I get to go through for me to become a better person.

Elder Woolley and I has been doing great as a companionship so far. I am glad I am able to get a long with this guy really well! We have a lot in common! It just takes the pressure off as a trainer.

Hong Kong has been pretty awesome so far. The weather this week was great, it wasn't that hot! I love the PoPos and SicSics in here. They are the funniest!  When we go night finding around Shatin we would always meet this interesting old man, we were able to meet him twice this week. Its funny cos every time we meet him we always say " Maybe God wants you to start praying". Every time we would meet him we would always invite him to pray.

Its been really great, time has been pretty fast! I am grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn from my mission. I know Heavenly Father loves each one of us. I know that Christ lives. See ya next week. Have a great week.

HK 26 Hello World !

Hello world! How is everyone, it was another fast week! Can't believe I am back here writing an e-mail home. This week has been a week of miracles. Elder Woolley has been a really great missionary, he reminds me of myself, coming in to the field with this burning desire to serve God. That is what a new missionary always brings, I am trying my best to use that fire and maintain that fire with in him.

This week was life! Life is all about ups and downs. This week we were praying so hard to see miracles. We started the week without a single investigator. First 2 days of the week was really hard. We were trying so hard to find people but people just doesn't stop! There was one day where we had a bad day of finding then I got pooped on by a bird. How bad is that? Its funny but its really humbling as well. Nevertheless, we pressed forward with faith. We prayed so hard that we could find people to teach.

The miracle of the week was when we were able to find 3 new investigators. We met with them and taught them a lesson. Another was when we were able to schedule 4 people who before didn't have interest. We were able to testify almost everyday regardless of when we are finding or teaching.

Really great week, I feel like I have gone closer to Christ once again. I am loving every second of my mission. I am grateful for the opportunity to be changed by it.

Richard is getting baptized next week. He will be baptized into the Victoria 3rd ward. I am so excited for him, it has been a blessing for me to be able to invite him to come unto Christ.

I know Christ lives. As we grow closer to him, we grow closer with our father in heaven as well. I know the Church is true. I know that the church is restored by a modern day prophet. I know families can be together forever. Everything can be possible through the enabling power of our savior Jesus Christ.

HK 25 Ascending Together

Hello! Wow, it has been another great week. I really anticipated this week because I knew I was gonna train. I was really nervous at first because I feel so inadequate but then I felt the assurance from Heavenly Father that I am ready to lead and train. So yes, as predicted from my dad, my new companion is Elder Woolley. Elder Woolley is from Denver Colorado. He is also 19 and went to BYU for a year. He is a really amazing person, he actually came in pre-trained to be honest. That just shakes off the pressure of training him. I have been impressed with his mandarin too, he has great mandarin even though he only studied it for 9 weeks. I guess it runs in the blood because he is half-chinese.

So I am training him in Tolo Harbor south! It is crazy how I got trained here and I am also training him here. So right now we are back in the sha tin apartment, the smell just brings back memories of my first day in Hong Kong so its kinda tough but I am okay with it.

So Elder Woolley and I are "opening this area". We are starting from scratch here, no investigators. So we are gonna find the people we have to find! Our finding has been really great, we were able to get a lot of numbers from the people on the street. We are also teaching a lot of people right on the street as well as people in the MTR. Before Elder Woolley came in I had the fear of talking to people in the MTR, but since he got here I have been talking a lot more to set myself as an example. So I am really grateful for that because it helps me to go out of my shell!

This week, we were able to half a great opportunity to help Richard move to his new house. It almost took us the whole day to do it because it was so far. It was fun because we were just drenched by the rain, plus we were carrying heavy stuff so it was kind of hard but it was fun! After helping him move we turned him over to the Kowloon Elders. I am grateful to be able to help Richard come unto Christ. It was such a great opportunity to know him and invite him to develop faith in Christ. He will be baptized in the 30th, I am excited for him. I hope I can witness it.

Awesome week! I am excited for more miracles to come! Love you!

HK 24 A New Son Is On The Way ! Who Could It Be ?

Hello everyone,
Hey, its been a really quick week again! Another great week has passed by.
Last week Elder Shukis and I were able to teach mainlanders again. We were able to teach Sister Wang and Sister Zhu. Like I said before, it was super spiritual once again. I am really impressed with these humble Chinese people willing to follow Christ's example. Super nice because they listen with their hearts! They are super prepared. It was the biggest baptismal service I have been. 7 people came down to be baptized. So almost all the mandarin companionship's came and taught.

Was able to eat really good food this week. For some reason our investigators and members invited us to eat with them. So I think that was really nice of them to do that.

This week we were able to have mission tour and zone conference. Elder Gong of the 70 came for both of the meetings. It was really nice. It is always a time to strengthen your desire to serve and find ways on how to become a more effective missionary.

Just finished all 5 lessons for Richard Xie. He will be baptized on the 30th of august. He is going to be baptized in Wanzai because he will be moving there next week. Its been great to see his change through out the last 2 months. Hopefully President Lam allows me to attend his baptism.

Super great week and guess what ? I am training this week. Another chance to grow out of my comfort zone. So good luck to me. Have a great week!

HK 23 Time Lapse In Hong Kong

On Tuesday, August 3,2015, 12:28 PM, Jayzon Christian Sy <jayzon.sy@myldsmail.net> wrote:

Hello everyone,

What a week! It was super busy this week, well not really. Probably because of the travel time. Sometimes it takes 2 hours to get to an appointment. So I try to make most out of the 2 hours of travel.

We were able to teach a lot of people this week. We were able to meet with all our investigators and less active. Really tiring, but its the best by the end of the day because I know I am fulfilling my purpose as a missionary. Elder Shukis and I did our best to help people to come unto Christ. All the rejections didn't stop us from finding people. Awesome week of teaching investigators too. We are out here teaching people not lessons. This week we worked hard in tailoring the lessons into there needs. If they don't keep their commitment then we spend the whole meeting reading the scriptures together. At the beginning of my mission I thought I had to explain faith deeply so that they can understand, now that I am out for 5 months I learned that if they act they will be able to gain that faith. So regardless of having faith or not, we always have to strive hard in progressing. Cos if not then we are regressing.

I am so happy to be able to take part in this great work. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives. Miracles still happens today.
