Happy Mid Autumn Festival!

How is everyone? Another great week of missionary work. It has been a great week of working hard in bringing people unto Christ. It has been a test of patience as well. The work is really tough and it takes patience and persistence in helping Chinese people develop faith in Christ. To be honest I learned a lot about life this week. I probably have one of the most interesting investigator in the world. We were able to meet with this guy two times this week. The first meeting I had with him was kind of out of hand. It has always been hard to control lessons with him because he would always interrupt and say things that pops out of his mind ( Like every other main-lander). So after that first visit, I said to myself okay next visit I am gonna control it. Next visit comes and the lesson went out of hand again. I was so disappointed during the start of the lesson but then I was prompted to just listen to what this man had to say. As I opened my heart to what he was saying I felt the sadness he had. With the way he is acting he is probably the happiest person I have seen in Hong Kong, but last week I felt the sadness. It was pretty sad, first time in a lesson where I got emotional. Life is really hard. I am grateful for the gospel in my life. I am grateful for the peace it brings. It will be tough helping this guy but I am down to help him change! For our other investigator, we found out that he was part of the communist party so these things are weird for him but he is so willing to meet. We were able to help him to understand why prayer is very important. He was able to understand and we are praying so hard that he will start praying.

This week was mid autumn festival as well. It was a really big celebration. I was happy coz we got lots of moon-cake last week. It is really unhealthy but its really tasty! I remembered last week I was asking this old lady "Sik Jiu Fa Mei" ( Its a greeting in Cantonese which means Did you eat already but its a greeting for Hong Kong people, its like saying hi) Then she answered "Sik Jiu" and pulled out some moon-cakes and cookies for us to eat. I love the old people here, they are hilarious! During the festival there was a park with booths as well. As we were passing by the park there was a booth that "tells people there future". As I saw the booth, I thought of the Plan of Salvation. I am grateful for the peace and assurance that the plan of salvation gives. I am grateful to know what the process of life is. It is tough but that is the beauty! We go through this world to make decisions and learn from the decisions we make.

Hope you guys have a great week! I know Christ lives!

Hello!

How is everyone doing. It has been another great week of missionary work. A lot has happened last week and the other week. I will start with the spiritual things. The last few weeks has been a test of faith. Elder Woolley and I are getting better and better every time we sit down and talk about how we can help our investigators come unto Christ. We have strengthened our faith once again. In the field, there is a lot of prayer that has to be done (before starting each studies, lessons, going out the door, blessing the food, etc) sometimes its hard to pour out our hearts into the prayers. This week we strive to  pour out our hearts into every prayer we say and I think it brought a really big difference into our attitudes. The biggest thing it brought was the spirit. Last week we were teaching a lesson in English. We were not super prepared for the lesson because we did not know this persons background. The guidance of the spirit quickly took over, we were able to teach the lesson in English powerfully! I can still remember the reaction I had before and after the lesson. Before teaching the restoration I remembered I took a deep breath and said a prayer so that I could deliver it well in English. After the lesson Elder Woolley and I just felt the happiness you feel when you know the spirit was there. Crazy, amazing experience.

For this transfer the Zone Leaders exhorted us to read the talk entitled "On being Genuine" by President Uchtdorf. They wanted us to read it 4 times before the next zone training. The talk has brought so much meaning into missionary work. The talk is all about being real with doing things. The talk made me ponder a question. Am I here to serve the Lord or for personal gain/recognition. The talk has changed my outlook on my mission. I am here to serve the Lord by helping people come unto him. That is my purpose, nothing else. The talk has changed my attitude in a lot of the aspect of the work. I am grateful for that.

Hong Kong has been really great. I love meeting different kinds of people and its fun trying to talk to everyone you see. Last week we were able to talk to this old guy named Bai Ying. Super interesting fella. He said he was an action star before, I didn't doubt him cos the way he brings himself tells me he really was a celebrity. Its funny, he is from beijing and speaks really BIAOZHUN mandarin. We're starting to teach him. Its almost the mid autumn festival so there is a lot of crazy ads about moon cake. I prayed for moon cakes and guess what, we got moon cakes 2 days in a row, its funny! Daipo ward has been awesome as well, I love seeing the members every week! The gospel really does bring happiness into peoples lives, and I can clearly see it right now as I have a front row seat of how it happens. This week I was pigging out as well. Elder Woolley and I were very hungry for some reason. Hope this does not keep up or else..... you know what will happen,  Ha!

Have a great week! I know the church is true. I know that Christ lives. I know Heavenly Father loves each one of us, and he has a perfect plan. Jia You! (Add oil)

HK 28 High On The Mountain Top

How's it going?

Another great week for Elder Woolley and I. We had the right attitude this week! We were able to stop and talk to a lot of people. Most of them are Cantonese speaking tho. Its alright, hopefully the mainlanders will pop out soon! It has been another great week of learning. This week, we prayed even harder to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost. One thing I learned on my mission is that if you don't have the spirit with you then you can't progress on your mission regardless of what talent or ability you have.

My companionship with Elder Woolley has been great! I can say, both of us are really good friends right now. Everything seems to click well, we have the same outlook on things. He has really good mandarin as well, so it really isn't a big stress for me to train him. Awesome guy! Playing basketball for exercise has been great as well. 30 mins of basketball starts my day right! Jason, an RC, would play with us as well. So this week we were able to build a stronger relationship with him. He is a funny guy!

The old guys here in Sha Tin is amazing! They are the funniest! We also visit this guy who does exercise around the corner. He always asks for for girl friends! Really funny old guy. We also met another good one last week, he was kind of drunk and started talking to us about his life. I am grateful to meet such old people. Old people are the cutest!

It was a great week of finding. I love meeting the people of Hong Kong. Once you are able to stop them they just talk and talk and talk. Really funny. I am grateful to meet those people and learn more about there life. Recently Elder Woolley and I have been teaching according to the needs of the people. Its great cos I feel like I was a robot before just talking about one topic. But right now I have learned how to connect the message of the restoration into the lives of the people. The promise in 2 Nephi 32 is true as well. The Holy Ghost will tell you all things what ye should do. Sometimes I just don't know how to respond to  people but then this week I relied on the spirit so much! The promise is really true, just open your mouth and God will fill it. It is really amazing!

Can't wait for another great week of work. I hope all of you have a great week as well! I know Christ lives!
