HK44 He Lives !

Hello! Belated Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year!

This week was awesome, celebrating Christmas away from home was kind of weird but Hey, it was really fun. I was able to spend Christmas with the Zone, with the people on the streets and some members. It was fun! We were able to do caroling as well. That was really fun. Giving out cookies was fun as well, it was fun trying to get people to take a cookie.

Once again I have seen the Lords hand in the work this week. I was able to feel the spirit as I testified to the people about the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. He was indeed a gift for all of us and because of His life and His sacrifice, anything that is weak can be made strong. Anything that seems impossible could be possible. There is just so much hope as I ponder about the principles of the gospel. This week we spent a lot of the time out on the streets because most of our investigators went back to mainland or are on some Christmas trips. We only taught a couple of lessons but they were all awesome. Our prayers were answered this week. One of our investigator was really humble and open to what we have to share for the first time. That was a blessing cos Elder Forston and I seriously didn't know how to help him. So we went into the lesson with a listening heart. That was a miracle! One of our other investigator brought his wife with him and we were able to teach them as a family. That was a privilege to testify about families and how the gospel really does bless our families. We invited them to pray as a family and they accepted it and they seem really excited about it. They even came to church the day after. That was a miracle! Ryan was baptized yesterday. We had a great baptismal service. His mom is very proud of him and looks like this kid has started his journey. That was a miracle!

This week I was pondering about how important it is to be worthy all the time. I really like the general conference address given by Elder Cook. He talked about how we should be temple worthy in good times and bad times. We have to be always prepared. You just never know when you need your worthiness so once again I invite everyone reading this to think and ponder about how you can improve. It is a process to develop spiritual habits. Our growth shouldn't depend on spiritual burst but spiritual habits. I know Christ lives. I am grateful I am raised in a good family. I know God loves each and everyone of us, He really does. Have a merry Christmas and a Happy New year everyone.

HK 43 Merry Christmas Everyone !

Hello how is everyone?

Grateful for the opportunity to once again share some experiences I have had out here on the field. This week was really busy. For some reason we had tons of lessons and appointments. So we had to run around the island. I was exhausted yesterday as well, because I had to do some zone leader things. Pretty busy but hey, it is stretching me! What a great opportunity to learn.

Hmm, this week we were able to help a couple of Main-landers learn more about the gospel and baptized them as well. Once again that experience has strengthened my testimony. They are just super humble and they always come down with a willing heart. We were also able to meet some of our investigators this week. Most of them are free now because tests just ended. So this week hopefully we would be able to find people and teach them about Christ. It will probably be a really good week because its Christmas week and it will be a great time to testify about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. We were able to meet with our 70+ year old investigator this week. We tried to teach him by showing him pictures and asking him to explain to us what he sees. Well in the end it didn't work, ha! So we are trying to be patient and we are trying to find different ways on teaching this guy. Ryan has been doing well. He passed the baptismal interview, so he will be baptized next week. The work has been picking up recently, we hope we can continue having faith and continue working hard. This week I was able to see Elder Woolley as well. It was great seeing him and seeing him grow is great. He is now the senior companion and a district leader. My very powerful trainee.

I was reading D&C 46 this morning and it talked about the gifts of the spirit. We are all given talents for our own benefit. It is our duty to discover it and develop those talents for our own good.  I invite everyone to ponder on what talents they have that they could use in helping God establish his kingdom here on earth.

I am so grateful I chose to serve on a mission. I have learned a lot. I have come to know how God really does exist. He is literally our father in Heaven. He loves each one of us and has a divine plan for us. I really know Christ lives as well. The power of His atonement really does enable us to do many things. I know that the power of the Holy Ghost is real as well. Through Him we will be able to know the truthfulness of all things. I really know these things are true. Merry Christmas everyone !

HK 42 Jesus Christ - Our Only Way to Hope And Joy.

Hello! Great week once again. I have gained a stronger testimony once again. It was a great week of service and I definitely felt the spirit! This week was really interesting.
This week I gained a testimony about fasting. So 2 weeks ago I started fasting for our investigators, I fasted that I could feel the spirit more and that we could have a baptism. So this week I was reminded that sometimes we have to wait for our answers and that we have to exert our effort into our prayers. So this week I was able to feel the spirit more. As we had our Christmas party, I just had a happy feeling inside which I couldn't explain. The feeling actually lasted quite a while, during Sundays sacrament service I felt it as well. Crazy, I am actually having the same type of feeling right now. So after sacrament service one of the members introduced us to her son who actually took all the missionary lessons already. So we reviewed all the lessons and he is a smart kid and understands the gospel really well. So yeah, we are having a baptismal service for him on the 27th of December. So yeah, I think the things that had happen the past three days has been an answer to my prayers. I have learned for myself once again.

Christmas party was awesome! We were able to bring a couple of investigators and they loved the program and of course the food as well. The missionaries actually acted out a play. We did a play about "The Grinch" I was Max in the story. If you don't know who he is go check out the cartoon. It is funny. There are tons of kids in the branch and they are very cute. It was a really grate time to gather and celebrate the birth of out savior.

After Christmas party we headed to HKU to help a guy who told us to bring food. At first I felt really bothered cos the guy is kind of mentally challenged and I thought I would be wasting time. But as I was thinking about it during the train, I thought of what Christ would do. Christ would administer to anyone in need. So we went anyway and we gave him food and shared a message about Christ. After leaving I felt the confirmation from the spirit that we did the right thing. So that was a good experience.

Cool experiences this week was when we were walking by the pier, a gust of wind blew and heavy rain came afterwards. It broke my umbrella in not even a second and we were soaking wet. Elder Forston loved the experience because they dont really have rain in California. So that was pretty funny but I was kinda scared tho, ha! So during the Christmas party, they invited the investigators to go up and introduce themselves. So we let Shi yeye go up and guess what. He asked if he could sing!! So he started singing with his ancient voice and the members loved it! He actually put on a show.

Really great week, We had transfer calls last night. So Elder Forston and I are staying. I am given another opportunity to serve my fellow missionaries once again. I am called to become a Zone Leader for the zone. It is kind of scary but I guess this is another opportunity for me to grow and serve.

I know the gospel is true. This church is perfect. I know that Christ lives, I also know that Heavenly Father really does love everyone. He really does.

HK 41 What Can You Give Jesus This Christmas?

On December 7 , 2015 at 12:30 PM Jayzon Christian Sy <jayzon.sy@myldsmail.net> wrote:

Hello! Great week of missionary work. Amazing week of feeling the Christmas spirit.
This week we did tons of service. First off we delivered Christmas Candy canes to our members. We did that to invite them to come to the Christmas party and to strengthen the relationship between members and missionaries. The branch has been doing great recently. Being a missionary you have to get to know the members as quick as possible in order to know who we could use for fellowship. But the most important thing is to strengthen their testimonies as well. This week I learned about service. During zone training the zone leaders and sister training leaders gave a training about serving others.  Sometimes as missionaries we get busy with appointments but we have to look around and try to see if someone is in need. Just like the story of Jesus visiting Jairus. As Jesus was going to the house of Jairus to heal his daughter, a woman with a sickness touched the robes of Jesus. Although they were on there way to an important thing he still gave time and administered unto the woman with the blood disease. Sometime we may be busy but we have to always look out on the service opportunities we could give.

This week we did Christmas caroling as well. We were in Central and we found a spot to sing. Honestly I was having a hard time because the sisters voices are so high but nonetheless I just tried to keep going ( My voice was prolly bad, ha!). It was interesting while singing there would be a companionship doing finding in front. Basically we ended up just saying Merry Christmas to everyone. Well, we still managed to talk to a couple of people. We were able to meet a Mormon actually. He was from London, he acts and is having a play in hong kong. Pretty Cool. We also met a young man in which we were able to bring to the Christmas concert. It was a great experience!

Christmas concert was pretty nice! We were able to bring a couple of people. We even brought Mr. Shi. The super old guy from fujian. He was so funny. He just sings with his Chinese type of voice( if you know what I mean). He actually came to church yesterday as well and he is having a great time. The members love him. Its been a ride with these old people in hong kong. They are the funniest. Hopefully we will be able to help him progress in the gospel. The christmas concert was great, we had a guy named Wayne Burton who sang for us. The name of his album is "What would I give" and he wanted  us to ponder of something we can give Christ as a gift. So I extend the invitation to you as well. What can you give Jesus for this Christmas?

Our investigators are doing really well. They have been keeping their commitments. Elder Forston and I have been praying hard and we have seen the difference it brings. I love this work. I am honestly having the greatest time of my life. I know the church is true. I know Christ lives, and he is the reason why we celebrate this holiday.

HK 40 Eyes To See And Ears That Hears.

Hello, hows it going? This week was great! I was able to recover from the flu and I feel better now! This week was pretty interesting. We worked really hard in helping people come unto Christ.

This week we were able to teach a lot of people. Well, most of the college students are busy so we met with the much older people. This week we were able to work with former investigators. One was a 70ish years old guy. He doesn't understand most of the things that we say because his comprehension is not that great so we just showed him videos and talked about it. We actually played a bit of basketball in the chapel after that, the old man can hoop! We were also able to teach an old investigator, he is from Taiwan and studies here in Hong Kong. He has the same problem as most college student, which is the desire to learn more about God. Most of them just want to hang out. It is kind of understandable because young people just don't care yet. So we are really praying hard that everyone we meet would have the desire to. Finding this week was really good. We were able to find some mandarins but most of them are main-landers. This week I met a woman by the promenade, I talked to her and found out that she just got back from Cebu for vacation. Turned out she was just here for vacation as well but hopefully the flier that I gave her will get her to go to church in the future. You just never know. I am really grateful for the chance to be an instrument here in Hong Kong. I just love God and Jesus Christ. The friendship I make with the people I meet are eternal. This week was once again spiritual. The longer I am out here the more I see my weaknesses which humbles me and reminds me to always rely on the savior. You could say I kind of understand the culture of Hong Kong. Fun thing that happened this week was when we were chased by a dog. Good thing it was a small dog and we were able to out run it. Pretty funny.

I am so grateful for the scriptures. They are very powerful! Reading it with spiritual eyes just makes it so good! I love the Gospel, It really is true! Have a great week.
