HK 9.0 The Weekly Progress Report

Hello Everyone!

This week is good! I love being a missionary. We spent a lot of time finding this week. Since the day I got here I have been seeing miracles everyday. I love meeting different kinds of people. I can say I have grown a lot since the day I got here. I am talking to more people now and talking to them boldly. Elder Haggenmiller is training me really well. He trains me by example. He has been trying hard to be exactly obedient since the first day I got here. I am blessed to have a trainer who strives to be obedient.

Coming in to my mission I have a weakness of expressing my thoughts. There are times in lessons when I cant express what I felt. Its hard, but it is what motivates me to study harder and to talk more. I expressed this issue to Elder Haggenmiller and he is willing to help me out. So he suggested I should write more. Write down the lessons and write down the things I learned during personal study. It has been great so far. Its helping me Alot.

We strive hard this week to find new investigators to teach. The road we found on TaiWai has been great for us.  We have been getting a lot of numbers. The hard thing is scheduling them. I was kinda disappointed the other night for being able to schedule them but Elder Haggenmiller told me its not like it will be Strawberries and Butterfiles. So that motivated me to call more and to not be disappointed by the choices of others.

Every night we call Xie Yu and follow up about his word of wisdom issue. It has been great so far. Tea was the problem, the first day he stopped drinking tea he said he felt thirsty. He lapsed on the second day but hasn't been drinking since. Every day we pray for him to have strength to overcome it cos it will help him prepare for baptism.

Before leaving the apartment. We asked for the guidance of the Holy Ghost to find the person we wanna teach. When we got to the finding area the first person we talked to stopped and was really interested. We were able to teach a street lesson. He said he will be busy this week but he said he will have time to listen to us next week. We hope we can reschedule him. We were able to teach a lot of street lessons this week. I know its because of the faith we are putting into.

I love being a missionary. Everyday I am just so excited to go out and talk to people and share to them about the restored gospel. I have seen how the gospel blessed me and my family and I am so happy to share it to others.

I bear my witness that Jesus Christ lives and he loves each one of us.

HK 8.0 The Principle of Action: Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

Three basic elements of faith: (1) faith as the assurance of things hoped for that are true, (2) faith as the evidence of things not seen, and (3) faith as the principle of action in all intelligent beings. I describe these three components of faith in the Savior as simultaneously facing the future, looking to the past, and initiating action in the present. (By Elder David A. Bednar ).

Hello everyone! How are you? I've been learning a lot here on my mission. Missions are the best. You help people receive the gospel and you yourself will grow. I have learned a lot since the day I got on my mission but there is always room for more! I realized the MTC prepared me for my mission, and the mission is preparing me for my life. What a wonderful time it is for me to grow and become a responsible man. I am grateful for the opportunity to study the scriptures and pray everyday. Every day is a day full of new things. There is a lot to learn Everyday!

This week was a week full of finding! Our investigators has been busy so far. So we went finding. We spend about 5 hours walking back and forth. Mandarin work is special huh? Since not everyone speaks mandarin in hong kong, we have to find a place full of mainlander or at least find  them walking through the road. It gets tough sometimes. What I learned this week is Success might not come instantly, but it will come. There were a lot of times when we don't get success til the last 10 minutes of finding.  Its fun! A lot of principles to be learned on missions. We had good lessons with our investigators this week. Xie Yu is ready to be baptized, just has to develop some good habits.

God has promised us a lot of blessings. All he asks of us is to follow Jesus Christ and his teachings and keep his commandments. It all comes down to acting upon what you learn. I hope and pray each of you reading this will follow Him and Keep His commandments. I know that Christ lives and He loves each one of us. His atonement is His perfect love. Through His atoning sacrifice we have a chance to go back to Heavenly Fathers presence. I know families can be together forever. I know sincere prayers can lead to a mighty change of heart. Strive to become better everyday. The person you compare to is the person you are yesterday. Love you all!

Love,
Elder Sy

HK 7.0 "The Gospel Is A Fountain Of Knowledge That Never Runs Dry."

Hello! How is everyone

Another week has passed. Another week of miracles. Missions are really life changing. You just don't know whats gonna happen everyday. Thing I learned this week is we have to be prepared no matter what. As a missionary, I'll never know who God has placed on my path so I really have to be ready all the time.

General Conference this week was good! The 2 days of general conference strengthened my testimony. I learned a lot from it. I prepared questions before the conference, I expected that it would be answered. Indeed it was. General Conference really is for everyone. I hope you guys learned from General Conference too. The gospel is a fountain of Knowledge. It depends on the bucket we bring. If we bring a small cup, that's how much we will learn. But if we bring a Bigger cup we will learn more. "Seek and ye shall find, Knock and it shall be opened unto you"

This week we were really working hard to find new people to teach. We prayed so hard and asked God to help us to find a new place to find. So this week we were going to a lot of places. We were finding really hard in Tai Wai. We prayed really hard this week and on Friday we were able to find a good place to find. We were able to get numbers from 10 people. It was fantastic. Hong Kong mission really requires hard work and enthusiasm. People here are Mmm-Dahan ( no time). So it really requires a lot of Patience Faith and Hard-work.

I really like to share what Elder Bednar shared last week during conference. It was about hushing our fears. Jesus walked on water and Peter wanted to go to Jesus and Christ said come unto me. Peter walked on water but when the storms came we feared and fell into the water. Why? Cos he didn't look to Christ. His focus drifted to the storm and he became afraid. LOOK UNTO CHRIST. No matter what happens in life, always look to him. In times of Peace or Trials always look unto Him.

I love being a missionary! Everyday I learn new things. I know this will prepare me for my life. I know the Church is True. I bear my Witness that Christ Lives!

HK 6.0 How Have You Found Ways To " Be Strong And Of A Good Courage" ?

On Monday, April 6, 2015 12:03 PM, Jayzon Christian Sy <jayzon.sy@myldsmail.net> wrote:

Hello! How is everyone doing? This week was really good! Being a missionary gets better and better everyday. Speaking the language is coming. I had a hard time expressing my self this week. To be honest I cried in front of my companion because of this weakness. Then I read Ether 12:27. God gives us weaknesses to make us humble. We have to view our weaknesses of an opportunity to become better. " And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble. and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me. for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them." I know everyone has their own weaknesses but if we are humble enough to accept we do, and ask help from Heavenly Father then our weaknesses will be our strengths.
This week was really good. I strive to be worthy of the spirit. It turned out really good! This week I had the opportunity to teach a main-lander. Main-landers who are worthy and wants to be baptize comes to Hong Kong and receive all 5 lessons in one day. So yes we did taught a woman all five lessons. Her Name is Qiu Yong Li. It was surprising how receptive she was. Cool experience was when I shared the first vision of Joseph Smith to her. After the lesson she told me she felt something on her head when I was reciting the testimony of Joseph Smith. My testimony was strengthened, they are right! The first vision really does have a spirit to it.
She was baptized at 6, the spirit was so strong. I love feeling the spirit. Second cool experience for the week. Yesterday as we were finding in our area we were rejected a lot. Well what a surprise ( HAHAHA) Then I saw this woman sitting down by the bench and I had an impression to talk to her. I followed the spirit. I asked her "Qing wen ni hui jiang putonghua ma?" Then she said " I am Filipino". Well it wasn't a surprise I knew she was a Filipina. Then we talked, I asked how her life is. Then she said she felt alone. She said she has a lot of problems in life. For the first time in my life I was bold. I told her that God has placed us here for you. I asked if she would mind sharing it to me. She said she had a problem with marriage and said she felt God doesn't love her anymore because she has done a lot of bad things.  I felt the spirit. She cried saying, she is glad we talked to her. I cried telling her of how the Lord still loves her and that no matter how bad we are we can still become better people. His arms are open for change. It was a cool experience. We got her number and we gave it to the Tagalog missionary  sisters.
I wonder what cool experience will I get. Its all about following the spirit. And it is gained by hard work and obedience. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives. He has a plan for each one of us. Continue keeping the commandments and you will see the change in your life.I testify that Following Christ will give you a new view of the world. You will know which things are the most important in life. See ya next week! Love you!
